Tailored Product Selection
Over the course of a weekend, the volunteers transformed all internal areas of the building, including the entrance, reception, café area, bedrooms, bathrooms, treatment rooms, offices, meeting spaces and woodwork. A range of high-quality paints were used, including Johnstone’s Trade Microbarr Anti Bacterial Acrylic Eggshell—designed to fight hospital-acquired infections in areas requiring essential hygiene protection.
“We’ve been truly impressed by the scale and generosity of what’s being delivered—from the provision of paint and preparation materials to expert design input, mural artwork, and the dedicated hands-on support from PPG volunteers. It’s an extraordinary contribution to the Hospice and the many individuals and families it serves,” said Ruth Moring-Beale, Director of Strategy and Growth, Morelli Group.
Colors with Meaning
A UK-based PPG color expert selected the color scheme, which includes Acai Berry (PPG1046-7), PPG’s 2025 Color of the Year (also known as Purple Basil). This dusty violet with soft mauve undertones reflects a shift toward deeper, more comforting hues that promote healing and emotional well-being.
A mural, designed by local artist Pocket Wren, was also painted at the hospice. The mural features the iconic Peel Tower, a beacon of hope, surrounded by forget-me-nots symbolizing cherished memories and love. Soaring birds echo the hospice’s logo, symbolizing freedom and the enduring bonds connecting us to loved ones.
“We’ve always strived to create a sense of home for our patients during their time with us, and the generous support from PPG and their partners will make a significant difference in helping us achieve that,” said Stuart Richardson, Chief Executive Officer, Bury Hospice.
